What is a high performance butterfly valve?
Maximus high performance butterfly valve offers the high-performance butterfly valves with the low-cost, lightweight benefits of a butterfly valve design. It is ideal for handling water, oil, steam, gas, and slurries. Maximus igh-performance butterfly valves satisfy a wide range of industrial applications. Available in carbon steel or stainless steel, as well as Wafer, lug and Flanged body styles, they can be specified in sizes 4″ through 36″, including wafer-style body, lug-style body, and Flanged Style and pressure classes PN10, PN16, 150, 300, and 600. These valves can also provide dead end service where applicable.
The metal seated butterfly valve is mainly used in industries that work under extreme pressure and temperatures. The metal seats are designed to make the valve much more versatile and durable, so that they can easily withstand high pressures and temperatures. The valves are known to be advantageous because of their general make up and system compatibility. Below are a couple of things you need to know when thinking of using this type of valve.
Double Offset
- Double offset / eccentric design with bidirectional bubble-tight shutoff performance, extremely high pressure application than ordinary butterfly valves
- Double offset / eccentric configuration with conical angled disc design. Long life durability due to double offset operating principle minimizing seat wear
- High pressure application with small torque. Maximize flow and minimize resistance providing high Cv.
- Seat available in either Soft (PTFE/RTFE), Metal or Fire Safe. Fast and simple seat replacement. All of soft seats, Metal seats and Fire Safe seats are inter-changeable.
- Excellent corrosion resistance.
- Internal travel stops design to prevent over travel of the disc, minimizing possible seat damage.
Double Offset Design
- The double offset design swings the disk away from the valve seal immediately after opening, which helps reduce friction and seal wear to promote better control and seal life.
- This popular valve is also known as a high performance butterfly valve. This valve has two stems offset from the center. This creates a cam action during the application’s process
- 1st offset: The axis of the shaft is behind the centerline of the sealing point of the disc to seat.
- 2nd offset: The axis of the shaft is eccentric to the center of the valve/pipe line.
Triple Offset
- High performance and Triple-offset Butterfly valves which offer incrementally higher pressure ratings, which are required for an ANSI rating. Any process media flowing through the control loop can be regulated with the proper valve, and our metal seated butterfly valve is an excellent valve that provides the precision control and bubble tight seal that an operator requires.
- Triple offsets are generally used in applications similar to gate valves, where a metal seat is required, and tight shutoff and/or quarter turn actuation is desired. Applications like high pressure steam (over 150 PSI), superheated- steam, high temperature gases and oils, high temperature applications are good for this type of valve because a metal seat is required over a soft seat.
Triple Offset Design
With the triple offset butterfly valve there are three offsets. Two are placed in a similar position to the double offset butterfly valve, while the third offset is the geometry of the seating surface, creating a type of cone shape of the disc and seat. This cone angle, along with the two eccentric shaft offsets, allows the disc to seal against the seat with no friction
